VENUES

The Basildon 2004 venue, the Towngate Theatre, is 200 yards from the bus and rail stations, and main taxi rank, in the fully pedestrianised town centre. The town centre has a number of award-winning buildings, one of which is now listed, together with the world's only glass church bell tower and the Mother and Child statue that forms the centrepiece of the town's emblem.

The recently modernised Holiday Inn was the venue for some of the event formalities. Situated on the fringe of the Festival Leisure Park, a major entertainment and dining complex some 1.5 miles north of the town centre.
